In accordance with federal and state special education regulations, Sevier County Schools will conduct a Child Find Meeting for parents who homeschool their children or have preschool children ages 3-5 not in kindergarten.

The purpose of this meeting is to:

● Explain how the Child Find process applies to homeschooled and preschool (3-5 not in

Kindergarten) students.

● Provide information on how to refer a child who may need evaluation for special

education services.

● Review the rights of homeschooled and pre school (3-5 not in Kindergarten) students

under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

● Answer questions from parents regarding available supports and procedures.

If you are a parent providing home education or of a preschool child (3-5 not in Kindergarten)

and suspect your child may have a disability that impacts learning, we encourage you to attend.
